Project 1: Contextualization
Topic & Thinking SkillMy topic for this project was Racial Injustice. I chose this because I felt as though it's a big issue that has yet to be resolved. The thinking skill used in my project was contextualization. I used books, websites, articles , photos and history to create my project and make it stand out.

English
For the english portion of my project I wrote a short story using my research and imagination. The main idea of the story is how a crime will differ in 50 years and how America's justice system does right compared to 50 years ago and now.

Art
With such a broad topic, I created a project that demonstrates a reoccurring issue among racial injustice. The piece is a 3D printed head with a flat back. In the back, there are words that stick out to show what could possibly be going through an individuals head during their experience with injustice. The head is also on a platform bordered with prison bars. All of this is on a lazy-susan so it can spin that way anyone observing it can chose whether or not to spin it and understand the full piece. |
Civics
I found this to be the most challenging out of all three classes. This is because I wasn't sure how to incorporate civics in in my my final piece. But, after doing research on Emmet Till and George Stinney Jr then reading Dear Martin, I used my information to create a mind map.The center of my mind map had my main topic then other words branching off of it, which i considered them to be factors of racial injustice. Extending from the factors were examples such as my research to support the issue stated. I also drew lines to connect one factor to another and other examples to factors as my way of saying everything on the map connects in one or more possible ways.
